As North Berwick finalized new solid-waste contracts beginning July 1, the Select Board on June 3 appointed Town Manager Dwayne Moreington as the town’s representative to EcoMaine, the regional waste-to-energy organization.
Moreington told the board all solid-waste contracts had been signed for disposal beginning July 1 and that owner communities are asked to designate a representative to EcoMaine. A motion to appoint Moreington was moved, seconded and approved 5-0.
Moreington said representatives to EcoMaine are typically town managers or finance directors in other communities and that his appointment is consistent with regional practice. The town’s EcoMaine membership and new contracts were factors driving earlier presentation of bag-price and disposal changes at the public hearing.
