The Tredyffrin‑Easttown School District named an ad hoc redistricting committee and described a multi‑year timeline on June 9 for redrawing elementary attendance boundaries tied to the planned opening of Bear Hill Elementary School.
Board member Dr. Roberta Hatinski, who chairs the ad hoc redistricting committee, said the committee met May 28 and that the district is “at the beginning of the redistricting process.” She outlined steps: administration will compile demographic and enrollment data this summer; the ad hoc committee will meet in fall 2025 to set parameters; a steering committee of parents, administrators and outside consultants will be selected in spring 2026 to develop boundary options; and the district expects to present a redistricting plan to the full board in late 2026 or early 2027. Transition planning for students would follow in spring 2027, with the school opening in fall 2027.
Hatinski said the committee intends to use a similar structure to the 2018 redistricting, including a steering committee and outside consultants. The board emphasized public engagement: committee meetings and parameters will be advertised and the public invited to participate in fall meetings and subsequent work.
No formal boundary decisions were made; the board described this as an initial outreach and planning phase to ensure the district has sufficient time to analyze enrollment, legal and logistical considerations before offering boundary proposals for public comment and board action.
