The Tredyffrin‑Easttown School District Board on June 9 approved the resolution implementing the homestead/farmstead exclusion for fiscal year 2025‑26, a measure that applies the state‑allocated gaming revenue to reduce the assessed tax for eligible homesteads and farmsteads. The motion passed by voice vote, recorded as 9–0.
Mr. McDonnell explained the program in the presentation: the district received $3,726,000 in the gaming‑revenue allocation. That amount will be divided equally among 10,831 approved homesteads (and five approved farmsteads noted in the resolution), producing an estimated assessment reduction of $344.09 for each eligible homestead, Mr. McDonnell said. Eligibility is determined through an application process to the county assessment office.
Board members asked procedural questions about eligibility and how residents can apply. Mr. McDonnell said residents who do not see the reduction on their tax bill likely did not submit the required application to the Chester County assessment office and that late applications would take effect the following year.
Board member Dr. Radinsky reminded residents that the Property Tax/Rent Rebate program has an income limit of $45,000 for homeowners and renters and that applicants should consult program details about income exclusions. The board passed the homestead/farmstead resolution by voice vote with all members in favor.
The approved resolution appears on page 190 of the board packet and authorizes the district to apply the homestead/farmstead allocation for the 2025‑26 fiscal year.
