Staff told the council that the EV chargers were partly grant-funded through the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and that the grant required the city to own and operate the chargers and offer free charging for a five-year period. That five-year period has concluded, staff said, and the council adopted Resolution 2025-15 to set a rate schedule to recover operating, maintenance and electricity costs going forward.
At the meeting a council member moved to approve the resolution; the motion passed by voice vote with no recorded roll-call tally in the transcript. Staff said the rate schedule will be advertised and that the city will no longer provide free electricity at those pedestals.
