The Sarpy County Board of Commissioners on June 10 awarded a construction contract to MC Wells Contracting LLC for $116,680 to replace corroded floor drains at the county’s public workshop in Gretna.
Beth Garber, assistant county administrator, told the board purchasing opened six bids on May 13 and MC Wells submitted the low bid of $116,680; bids ranged up to $235,600. "The low bid was MC Wells in the amount of $116,680," Garber said. She said the project is expected to begin in July 2025 and be completed by October 2025.
Commissioners asked for details about the scope and condition of the existing drains. County staff and the county engineer said the drains had deteriorated over time from road salt, debris and equipment weight; the replacement includes reinforced grates to better support heavy equipment. Staff said drains are flushed roughly every six months and jetted periodically.
Commissioner Warren Mixon moved to award the bid; Commissioner Kelly Burmeister seconded the motion. The board recorded five ayes, no nays and carried the motion. The record did not specify the funding source for the work beyond the purchasing documents read into the record.
