Council approves Ferry Tea beverage license, outdoor seating and several mobile‑food permits

At the June meeting the Warren Town Council approved a Class B beverage license for Ferry Tea Room (d/b/a Ferry Tea Room) at 69 Market Street, granted the restaurant conditional outdoor seating on the sidewalk pending inspections and an indemnification agreement, and approved mobile food establishment permits for multiple vendors for town events.

Applicants Sarah Beth Warner and Corto Guazebootha sought the Class B beverage license to offer wine and champagne by the glass; the council confirmed the business will use TIP/ServSafe‑certified servers. Council members asked about police and fire sign‑offs and were told both departments had no objections. The council closed the public hearing and voted to grant the license.

The Ferry Tea Room also sought approval for two small bistro tables on the sidewalk. The council approved outdoor seating contingent on measurements and ADA clearance verified by the fire chief and building official, execution of an indemnification agreement to cover the town for private use of public space, and proof of insurance.

The council approved mobile‑food establishment permits for a mobile coffee cart (Brixton Coffee Roasters / mobile operator), a 22‑foot wood‑fired pizza trailer (Benjamin Catone), and others who applied for the town’s event list. The council clarified that existing town restrictions — such as a 250‑foot prohibition near established restaurants — apply to all mobile food vendors and that most deployments must be at sanctioned events or in designated locations. Applicants were advised to coordinate with Hope and Main and event organizers for market appearances.

The council also approved a one‑day entertainment permit for an annual alumni flag‑football scholarship event and granted other brief event permits on the consent agenda.

Council motions were recorded as approved by voice vote; several approvals required follow‑up inspections or paperwork at the clerk’s office.
