Commission adopts resolution authorizing chair to sign closing documents for Lander property sale

County legal and staff briefed commissioners on the sale of the Lander property and asked for a resolution authorizing the commission chair to sign closing documents with the title company.

The county attorney explained the transaction history: the property had been listed, relisted because of a tenant, and then taken to auction; portions of the negotiation about starting bid were discussed in executive session earlier in the process because the auction company requested a starting amount. The auction concluded with bids netting proceeds to the county after auction and title fees. Staff said the net proceeds to the county would be $2.75 (thousand, hundred thousand, or the transcript recorded the number as "$2.75" — the county attorney clarified the net amount to the board verbally at the meeting but the transcript record presentation indicated the county would net $2.75 after fees and auction company deductions). The board adopted Resolution 2025-40 authorizing the chair to sign specified closing documents and to proceed with closing once the title company schedules the closing date. Commissioners asked staff to remove the property from county insurance and coordinate utility transfers prior to closing.

The resolution passed, and staff will coordinate with the title company and report the closing date and final net proceeds to the commission.
