Each contract was described by the presenter as required to meet federal mandates and to serve students with specialized needs. A motion to approve the contracts was made and the board approved them.
Federal grants: Beverly Key (district presenter) reviewed the district’s federal funding applications for the 2025–26 year, including Title I parts A, C and D; Title II Part A; Title III; Title IV; and Comprehensive Support and Improvement funds (CSI) for specified schools. Board member Hill moved to approve the federal application package; the board approved it.
Child nutrition/vendor bids: Child nutrition staff reported results of the vendor bid process for 2025–26. District staff told the board the district again will use Cisco (food distributor) and Mayola (milk) after a competitive bid; the item was presented for information and scheduled for action at the next board meeting.
Personnel: The board entered closed session under North Carolina General Statute 143‑318.11 for personnel and attorney‑client matters. After closed session, the board approved the superintendent’s personnel recommendations. The motion to approve the personnel slate was made and passed.
What the votes mean: The approved contracts secure vendor support for required assessments and therapies for students with disabilities; the CTE application enables receipt of state and federal CTE funds; and the federal funding application permits allocation of Title and CSI funds for the 2025–26 school year. The child‑nutrition recommendations and vendor renewals will return to the board for formal approval at the next meeting.
