The Monterey County Planning Commission on June 11 approved permits for an accessory dwelling unit and a lot-line adjustment in Carmel, adding or clarifying conditions for archaeological monitoring and habitat restoration.
Staff presenter Jeff Salomita described PLN210331, an application for a 1,056-square-foot detached ADU at properties on Scenic Road and Carmelo Street. The project also proposes a lot-line adjustment to merge three legal lots into a single 0.85-acre lot (36,914 square feet). Salomita said the site lies within medium-density residential zoning, a design control overlay and an 18-foot height limit in the coastal zone; the ADU would be within 750 feet of known archaeological resources and within 100 feet of environmentally sensitive dune scrub habitat.
