Lane told council members that the ordinance gives the Brownsburg Police Department enforcement authority.
A council member moved to approve Ordinance 2025-07 on proposed reading, reading and final adoption; the motion was adopted by voice vote with no opposition recorded.
The ordinance is written as an addition to the Brownsburg Town Code (Title 7, Chapter 71). Supporters said the measure aims to protect pedestrian trail users and clarify enforcement, while still allowing controlled access for maintenance and accessibility needs.
