The Santa Rosa Board of Education on June 11 reported three readmission decisions taken in closed session and, in open session, voted to expel two students.
In closed session the board announced readmission actions on three cases. For case 2024-25-10 the board voted not to readmit the student and extended the exclusion by one semester; for cases 2022-23-10 and 2022-23-31 the board voted to readmit the students. The board reported each closed‑session readmission action was unanimous.
After reporting closed‑session actions, the board considered expulsions in open session. For expulsion case 2024-25-21 the motion to expel was moved and seconded and passed on a roll‑call vote: Trustee Kirby — Aye; Trustee De La Torre — Aye; Trustee Jenkins — Aye; Vice President Casten — Aye. The board then moved to expulsion case 2024-25-33; the motion to expel was moved and seconded and likewise carried on a roll call: Trustee Kirby — Aye; Trustee De La Torre — Aye; Trustee Jenkins — Aye; Vice President Casten — Aye.
Board members did not register any abstentions for the meeting’s agenda items.
The board’s public minutes will list the formal findings and any conditions of readmission or follow‑up requirements. The meeting record identifies the cases by district case numbers only; no student names were disclosed in open session.
The actions taken continued a night that also included budget and policy discussions and several public hearings on the district’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).
