Board approves canvass, hires and two purchases; votes 5-0 on four motions

PERRYTON — The Perryton ISD Board of Trustees recorded unanimous votes on four formal motions during the meeting: acceptance of the May election canvass, several personnel hires for the 2025–26 school year, approval to accept a donated video scoreboard and approval to purchase interactive whiteboard displays for Creighton High School.
The board first moved to accept the May election results “as presented.” The chair called for a motion and, after a second and no further discussion, announced the motion carried 5–0.
Next, trustees voted to hire a slate of personnel on one motion. The hires presented for one-year probationary or noncertified contracts included: Bridal Fellers for Perryton junior high choir teacher; Rocio Rodriguez, a paraprofessional now entering a kindergarten teaching role; Kimberly Spearman Jones for a one-year probationary SSA diagnostician contract; Jennifer Wolf for a one-year probationary noncertified administrator contract as communications director (Wolf was introduced at the meeting as joining the district from Northside ISD); and Monica Bedari for a one-year probationary administrator contract to serve as a second assistant principal at the high school. The board voted 5–0 to approve the hires.
The board then considered approval for a video scoreboard and a matching video-enabled scoring table in the Ranger Gym. District staff said the scoreboard and scorer-table purchase would be funded entirely through external contributions (not district general funds) and that donors receive advertising on the board for a multi-year term. Staff described the scoreboard as a large video-capable display (comparable to a large television screen) with app integration so remote users could follow game scoring in real time. After a motion and second, the purchase was approved by a 5–0 vote.
Finally, trustees approved the purchase of interactive whiteboard displays for Creighton High School for use in remodeled classrooms. Staff said much of that purchase will be charged to bond proceeds and explained that the purchase exceeded the district's $50,000 single-item approval threshold, requiring board approval. The motion to buy the whiteboards passed 5–0.
All motions recorded in the meeting were carried without recorded opposition or abstention. No amendments were recorded on these items during the meeting.
