Committees receive FY26 planning materials; City Attorney requests airport‑funded position

Jack Ireland said items R and S were distributed to committees as an early look at departments aligned to portfolios and as the starting point for fiscal 2026 planning; he said the FY26 “planned” numbers in the budget book are the baseline that staff will update as they draft next year’s budget. Ireland said staff expect to present more detailed departmental changes in August and that a high‑level budget briefing will be scheduled in June to review revenues and expense drivers.
City Attorney Leticia Palomino (introduced as the city attorney’s office representative) told the committee the City Attorney’s proposed budget was mostly unchanged and requested one enhancement: restoration of a position at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport that the airport would fully fund. Palomino said the budget includes the requested 3 percent baseline increase typically baked into agency staffing plans and no other internal changes.
Committee members asked when they should expect to see preliminary plans that identify major cuts or other adjustments; staff said detailed changes will come in early August when the proposed budget is delivered.
