Facilities staff updated the committee June 10 on progress at Family Gateway, a co‑located facility that also houses Vogel Alcove and other services.
Brian Thompson, assistant director of Facilities and Real Estate Management, told the committee phase 2 repairs began May 12 and that Rooms 201 and 301 had completed window replacements and were expected to finish interior renovations the following Tuesday, allowing those rooms to be repopulated. Thompson estimated the overall phase was about 55 percent complete and said exterior insulation, EIFS and interior framing repairs would continue in sequence.
A virtual participant representing a co‑located provider said all available beds at that location were full and thanked staff for prioritizing reopening units. Committee members asked whether additional bedrooms could be returned to service sooner; Thompson said unknown conditions in rooms would not be fully apparent until windows and framing were opened and that staff would continue to try to find rooms that require less intensive repairs.
Thompson repeated the project schedule and reaffirmed the anticipated completion of the current phase in December. No committee action was required; staff will continue repairs and provide updates as work progresses.
