Bee Cave schedules SpongeBob partnership, free CPR class and summer reading push

Bee Cave city staff announced a citywide promotional partnership with Magnolia Musical Theater and the Bee Cave Development Corporation to coincide with Magnolia’s production of SpongeBob, and shared two other summer programs including a free CPR class and the public library’s summer-reading challenge.
City staff said the SpongeBob shows will run July 16 through Aug. 16 and that local businesses can enroll as free marketing partners with the Bee Cave Development Corporation and Magnolia Musical Theater; the deadline to sign up as a local marketing partner is June 13, staff said. Staff asked council members to help spread the word to businesses that serve families.
The city also announced a free, hands-on CPR class offered in partnership with Lake Travis Fire Rescue. The session is scheduled for Monday, June 23, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; staff said the class is not a certification course but will include instructor-led practice on mannequins. Registration for the CPR class is open through June 20, staff said.
Library staff provided an update on the Bee Cave Public Library’s summer-reading program, saying the library challenged participants to read a total of 300,000 minutes this summer and reported the program is already at about 27,000 minutes. The library has already held four summer-reading events with about 15 more planned, including a lawn ‘big time bubbles’ foam party and a family night scheduled for next week; the library posted its full calendar on the city website.
All three updates were presented as informational items during the council meeting; staff said the SpongeBob partnership and CPR class are intended to engage families and local businesses and that library events are open to the public.
