Parks Tacoma promoted a variety of summer camps — outdoors, arts, nature, babysitter training, martial arts and others — and invited residents to check the Parks Tacoma website for details. The Verlo Playfield renovation was described as a fully inclusive multipurpose court with features for basketball, street hockey and futsal intended to provide Tacoma youth with safe space to play.
The broadcast also said Tacoma will host what it called the largest Juneteenth celebration in Washington state at Stuart Heights Park on June 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with music, food, vendors and history programming.
