Council moves two ordinances to reading, schedules committee meetings for June 16

Clerk read item 7a as “An ordinance authorizing the city of Amherst, Ohio to enter into a right of way use agreement and a full attachment agreement with us.” Councilmember Dembinski moved to send item 7a onto the reading. The council recorded the motion as passing with a roll-call “Yes” tally from members present; the clerk announced the motion “passes 6 to 0.”
The clerk then read item 7b as “An ordinance to remove the secretary of the income tax office position and other updates within the income tax office.” Councilmember Heberling moved to send item 7b onto the reading; the council voted and the clerk announced the motion “passes 6 to 0.”
During agenda-setting, the clerk read several proposed ordinances for committee consideration, including an ordinance amending Section 181 of the codified ordinances regarding the mayor’s court (A2521), revisions to the Building and Lands chapter (A2522), and proposed changes to building permit fees (A2523). Committee chairs scheduled those items for committee meetings on Monday, June 16, with building-and-lands and other committee meetings set to begin at 7 p.m. or shortly after.
No final ordinance adoption occurred at the June 9 meeting; the motions moved the two ordinances forward for later consideration in committee and on subsequent readings.
