The Planning and Zoning Commission on June 5 recommended approval of a Specific Use Permit to install two electric vehicle chargers serving four spaces at the SEMA headquarters located at 380 South Nolan.
Staff presented plans showing the two charger locations, signage and renderings of the proposed equipment. The applicant intends the chargers to be maintained by the property owner and to comply with manufacturer specifications and applicable codes. Staff told commissioners no surrounding property owners submitted written comments.
Catherine Alford of Kimley‑Horn, the applicant representative, said the chargers are intended primarily for company use but are available for public use if someone drives up. “It's gonna be meant for the company use, but I mean, anyone can drive up and come use them,” Alford said. She explained payment options generally run via QR code or credit card.
A commissioner praised the aesthetic approach for a newer building that does not require external transformers. The commission approved the SUP 5‑0 referencing the staff report dated 05/30/2025 and Review Summary No. 2 dated 05/30/2025. The item will be forwarded to City Council.
