Ryan Concha, senior project manager in the Bond Group, said the work is the second phase of a previously identified project and that ACOG awarded funds that will cover about 80% of the cost. Concha said "that's what the 1.25 is for. It's for covering engineering and then our part of the, resurfacing." He told the council the work focuses on the bridge deck and associated approaches; "we're not touching any of the superstructure. It's just the road only," he said.
Concha identified the project limits in the meeting as extending from around Northwest "30 Seventh" across the bridge to Northwest "40 First Street" and said the highlighted map represented the most expensive concrete sections that must be taken down to the rebar. Concha said sidewalks are not part of the current project overlay but that existing pedestrian walkways would be maintained; staff said specific pedestrian improvements could be evaluated during engineering.
