Margate Planning and Zoning Board elects officers, adopts 2025 meeting calendar

The City of Margate Planning and Zoning Board on June 3, 2025, elected its chair, vice chair and secretary and approved a draft 2025 meeting calendar before adjourning; there were no public comments.
Board leadership changes were decided by voice vote after brief self-introductions from members and a short staff presentation. The board selected Brenda as chair; the city attorney recorded that the motion for chair was made by Mr. Brandow and seconded by Ms. Wufadejo Major. The motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
Elsa Sanchez moved to elect Shekinah Wufadejo Major as vice chair, Sloane Robbins seconded, and the motion passed by voice vote. For secretary, a motion was made to elect Sloane Robbins; Joe Brandow seconded and that motion also passed by voice vote.
City staff member Andrew Penny presented a draft calendar of regular meetings, noting the board will meet on the first Tuesday of each month with a few exceptions. Penny said the August meeting had been moved off the first week to accommodate National Night Out and that members would receive notice in advance of any future adjustments. Board member Joe Brandow moved to adopt the calendar; a second was recorded and the board approved the calendar by voice vote.
No members of the public spoke during the meeting. After completing the agenda items—officer elections and calendar adoption—the board made and seconded a motion to adjourn; the motion carried unanimously.
The meeting record shows routine organizational actions to set leadership and the board’s schedule for the coming year. Staff indicated members would receive at least the standard notice before future meeting date changes.
