Residents raise paving and safety concerns; council notes two new speed bumps installed

During public comment at the June 3 Interlaken Town Council meeting, residents asked the council to consider snow-marker poles on Edelweiss and to add a dead-end sign to reduce confusion for drivers who turn into a private dead end.
Matt Herman, speaking from 238 (address given), said landscaping rock gets kicked up during plowing and requested snow-marker poles along curves to help the plow operator. He also asked for a dead-end sign because drivers frequently turn into a private road.
Joe Fuchs told the council he believes a portion of the paving done last year has a “washboard” surface on the big curve on Interlockand Drive (uphill curve) and up Saint Moritz; he asked whether the paving company will repair that area. Council members said they had not noticed widespread problems but will inspect the described locations and follow up with the contractor if warranted.
On traffic calming, staff reported that two speed bumps have been installed: one on Interlochen Drive across from a residence reference (“Tasha’s”) and a second on a downhill section near the junction of Youngfrown Burn. Council members said one or two additional speed bumps are available for installation if residents identify problem areas and asked people to contact public works (Bart or Derek) to request placement.
Council members thanked residents for the reports and said staff will check the paving surfaces and follow up about signage and snow-marker poles.
