The Waukesha City Building and Grounds Committee on June 2 approved a special-event permit and a partial closure of Municipal Lot 3 for a golf outing and post-event gathering on June 28 to benefit the Waukesha K‑9 unit.
The event organizer, Brooke Petty, owner of BB’s on Main at 362 W. Main St., told the committee the outing will be a daytime golf tournament followed by a post-party in BB’s rear lot, with food catered and a band for an awards ceremony. Petty said proceeds will go to the K‑9 unit and that Officer Daley from the police department will bring dogs to the event.
John Petty, who said the tournament has run at other area courses for 45 years and recently at Pewaukee Golf Club, told the committee he expects about 120–140 golfers and that maps will be provided to guide parking. Committee members asked about barricade pickup; Petty said he could pick up barricades if necessary, and staff confirmed the Department of Public Works typically drops off and picks them up.
A motion to approve the permit was made and seconded; the committee recorded Rick Lemke voting in the affirmative and the motion passed.
The committee did not attach additional conditions beyond the standard reviews from engineering and the city attorney, which staff said found no issues with the application.
