Sarpy County commissioners approve multiple contracts, supplemental agreement and tax corrections; move to executive session on real estate

The Sarpy County Board of Commissioners on June 3 approved a series of routine contract awards, a professional services supplement, tax corrections and recessed into an executive session to discuss a real estate matter. All recorded votes were 5-0.
Resolutions and motions approved included awarding a low bid for HVAC work at the Juvenile Justice Center, awarding fence replacement work on Harrison Street, approving a supplement to a construction management contract for the Sixtieth Street improvements, awarding a seal-coating bid for Cary Road, and approving listed tax corrections.
Beth Garber, assistant county administrator, said purchasing opened three bids for an air-handling unit refurbishment and fan-powered box replacement at the Juvenile Justice Center (phase 1 of a two-phase HVAC renovation). The board approved awarding the contract to Iman Plumbing Inc. for $435,058. Work is expected to be completed by Aug. 1, and phase 2 is scheduled to begin in spring 2026.
The board also approved a $97,950 low-bid award to Artisan Roofing for a fence replacement project along Harrison Street, describing the work as replacement of fencing that was damaged by recent storms; the replacement will use steel posts with treated wood to resist future storm damage.
The board approved Supplement No. 1 to the professional services agreement with Olson Associates for construction management on the Sixtieth Street Improvements (Highway 370 to Cape Park Road), adding $104,000. Zach from the county engineer’s office said the additional hours were needed for extra coordination with utilities, homeowners and additional construction surveying. Commissioners said the updated amount remained within a reasonable range of construction management costs — about 9% of total project cost after the supplement — and approved the supplement unanimously.
During the Board of Equalization portion of the meeting the board approved the consent equalization agenda and tax corrections numbered 17596 through 17599; County Assessor Dan Pittman indicated no additional explanation was required. Motions to approve the equalization consent and the tax corrections carried 5-0.
The board called an executive session “for the protection of the public interest” to discuss a real estate matter, and later returned to open session. The motion to go into executive session and the motion to reconvene were both approved by recorded votes of 5-0.
Motions and votes were recorded on the meeting record; all listed motions were approved with no nays or abstentions.
