Commission approves moving forward with RFP to build new admissions tech center on county-owned site

Davis County commissioners on June 3 authorized staff to begin a request-for-proposals process to replace the county’s service-station building with a new Admissions Tech Center on property the county owns, with the building sized to a $3,000,000 capital budget.
Facilities and health-department staff described a parcel the county acquired when the health building was developed and said the existing tenant of the service station will vacate in September, opening the site for demolition and redevelopment. Staff said the county will fund the work from an existing capital fund and that no additional county appropriation was requested in the immediate request to authorize an RFP. Facilities staff indicated the project schedule aims to begin construction after the tenant leaves and to vacate the current Kaysville tech center by the end of the following year.
The commission indicated unanimous support during the work session; no formal roll-call vote was recorded in the transcript. Commissioners asked about scope and technology costs; staff said building size and core systems will be designed within the $3,000,000 envelope and that technology and interior fit-out were planned within the project budget.
The RFP will proceed through the standard procurement process and any contract award will be brought back to the commission for formal approval.
