Boys & Girls Club of Sierra Vista reopens renovated main site and launches eight-week summer program

Jay, a representative of the Boys & Girls Club of Sierra Vista, said the organization has completed renovations at its main location and will reopen for a summer program starting Monday.

The club opened a third location this school year and closed its main site a month into the school year for renovations. "We are excited that our renovation is done, and our main location will be open for our summer program, which starts on Monday," Jay said. He said the renovation expanded the gym to serve more children and improve sports programming.

Program details announced on First Watch: the club will run an eight-week summer program, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will provide breakfast and lunch. The program is organized by grade for the following school year and serves children entering first through 12th grade. The club offers "Power Hour" homework help four days a week to give children time for academics before recreational activities.

Jay described partnerships with the school district that allow buses to bring children directly to the club and noted teen programming, including a teen room and opportunities for older youth to volunteer as coaches or help serve meals. He encouraged parents to attend an open house and to register online. He said the club's open house would be held at the main location, 1746 Paseo San Luis, from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

He said volunteers and donations (in-kind and financial) are welcome; the club performs background checks for volunteers and seeks community support for scholarships to avoid turning away children for financial reasons.
