Council confirms four committee appointments and approves seasonal arcade lease at Spring Lake Beach

The Burrillville Town Council on May 28 approved several screening-subcommittee recommendations and a seasonal lease for the Spring Lake Beach arcade.
Council action on consent agenda item 25-187 included: reappointment of Nathan St. Pierre to the Budget Board for a three-year term ending 06/30/2028; reappointment of Anthony Zampello as an alternate to the Budget Board for a one-year term ending 06/30/2026; appointment of Wayne Leary to the Conservation Commission to serve an unexpired term ending 03/31/2028; and appointment of Courtney Lacey as an alternate member of the Recreation Commission to serve an unexpired term ending 10/31/2025. The council read a letter from Courtney Lacey (previously considered for the planning board) explaining she withdrew her planning-board candidacy because of online attacks and accepted the recreation-commission alternate appointment.
The council also approved a lease recommendation from Jeffrey McCormick, DPW director, to enter into a seasonal arcade lease with John Bateman (doing business as Spring Lake Beach Arcade). The lease covers the 2025 and 2026 seasons for $7,000 per season, plus a possible $1,000 storage fee; funds are to be deposited in the Spring Lake Beach Fund (Fund 0540). The DPW director said the 2,100-square-foot building and equipment arrangement is unchanged from prior seasons.
Councilmembers moved and seconded the consent agenda and the lease motions; both passed by voice vote. The clerk will finalize appointments and lease paperwork.
