Council approves North High parking lot, county plat in ETJ and utility easement for Cove at Folsom

The Eau Claire City Council unanimously approved several land‑use and infrastructure actions during its May 27 meeting, including a school‑campus parking lot site plan, a county plat within the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, and utility easement and subdivision infrastructure agreement amendments for a manufactured‑home community.

North High School parking lot

City staff presented a site plan for a roughly 22,223‑square‑foot third phase parking lot on the North High School campus at 2700 Mercury Avenue that would add 69 stalls and include stormwater facilities. Planning staff said the plan commission recommended approval subject to five conditions: installation of parking lot end caps; street trees at a rate of one tree per 30 feet along Marquette Street; engineering approval of drainage calculations and a long‑term maintenance agreement for stormwater facilities; installing continuous curb or curb stops along the south and east sides per ordinance 18.25.080; and updated striping dimensions to meet stall and aisle standards. No public speakers signed up on the item and council approved the site plan unanimously.
