Board ratifies two‑year MMCEO contract after union’s near‑unanimous membership vote

The Missoula County Public Schools Board of Trustees unanimously ratified a two‑year collective bargaining agreement with the merged Missoula Classified Employees Organization (MMCEO) at its May 27 meeting.
Carlene Hathaway, president of MMCEO and a 35‑year paraeducator, told trustees the union’s membership ratified the agreement by an overwhelming margin: “213 votes in favor and only 2 opposed,” a 99% positive vote, she said. Hathaway called the contract “the strongest wage agreement we have achieved in my tenure with the district” and thanked district negotiators by name.
Board negotiators and administration also spoke in support of the agreement. Trevor Lebowski opened the personnel and negotiations segment and thanked staff for their work in reaching the agreement. The board motion to ratify the agreement was moved by Trustee Wake and seconded by Vice Chair Garris; trustees approved the agreement unanimously.
Ending: MMCEO members will move forward under the terms of the two‑year agreement as the district implements the contractual changes; the board noted appreciation for the negotiation teams and for classified staff.
