The board reported three bridal sponsors for the trolley: Perry, Killins and Bayview; ride sponsors have not been secured, and the board said that shortfall will reduce expected trolley revenue. Staff said ad sales for the annual shopping map are lower than past years and that committee members are continuing outreach to advertisers. The board also reviewed post-event questionnaire results from last year’s Sidewalk Sales and discussed ideas to enliven Mitchell Street, including asking the electric department to participate in a public demonstration.
The board noted two submitted 2-to-1 match maintenance grant applications; staff said awards will be announced in June and that contracts would not take effect until September.
Later in the meeting, the board voted to appoint Melissa Lover (nominee from Malted Bridal) to the Marketing and Promotions Committee. Members said she attended an earlier meeting, asked substantive questions and brings marketing experience. The motion carried.
