Kingsburg officials review audit, community feedback for general plan update; no action taken

At a joint Kingsburg City Council and Planning Commission workshop, city staff and consultants reviewed an audit of the city’s 1992 general plan and presented a draft vision statement informed by recent community outreach. The meeting was informational only; no votes or formal decisions were taken.

The city’s Community Development Director, Holly Owen, told the council the contract to update the general plan was finalized in 2024 and that a housing element was adopted July 17, 2024. She noted the update is required by the state and said the report in the meeting packet summarizes prior outreach and legislative considerations.

Sarah Ollander, principal planner with Provost & Pritchard, summarized the audit’s main findings and recommended next steps. “The audit report really just provides some high level considerations and observations,” she said, noting the audit addresses both compliance with state law and best planning practices.
