The Kuna Planning and Zoning Commission approved design review for a proposed Burger King (case 25-16-DR) on about 0.802 acres near the intersection of East Deer Flat Road and North Meridian Road at its May 2025 meeting. The proposed building would total approximately 3,250 square feet and provide 27 parking spaces, including two ADA spaces as shown in the application.
Marina Lundy, planner in the Development Services Department, told the commission that the applicant’s plans show two ADA spaces that are currently drawn at 8 feet each; city code requires each ADA stall to be 9 feet, 6 inches. Lundy also noted a late Idaho Transportation Department comment had been added to the agency folder and that staff remains available to summarize it.
Connor Gray, identified as the owner’s representative, and representatives from the franchise and contractor — Ted Newnemaker and Zach Zollinger — were present. Gray said the team would work with staff and their architect to address the parking and other technical comments. Commissioners also raised dark‑sky lighting compliance and flagged that the building elevation and color palette were not clearly included in the initial packet; the applicant said the color palette and rendering have been submitted and that final elevations are part of the application materials.
A motion to approve case 25-16-DR passed with the condition that the applicant work with city staff to verify and update the ADA parking stall dimensions and meet all conditions listed in the staff report. The commission recorded the motion by voice vote; no roll-call tally appears in the transcript.
