Aurora legislative advisers outline federal "reconciliation" bill; warn of deep Medicaid and SNAP cuts

Laurie (federal legislative staff) told the Aurora City Legislative Committee on May 23 that the U.S. House passed a large budget reconciliation package by a 215-214 vote and that the package still faces uncertainty in the Senate.

Laurie said the bill "leaves municipal bonds untouched," preserves the tax exemption for municipal bonds and "increases a low income housing tax credit, by 12 and a half percent." She also said the bill would expand a child care tax credit "to $22,500 per child" and include a provision described in the transcript as "no tax on tips."
