County approves $98,073 contract to repair fairgrounds arena wall, directs supplemental budget

County staff said an earlier request-for-proposals had returned one bid that exceeded available budget; after negotiations the contractor agreed to a revised scope and price of $98,072.83. The county had previously identified capital funds and reserves for fair projects; staff said the work can be funded from capital reserves but requires a supplemental budget to formalize the appropriation.
The board discussed and clarified contract language, directed staff to correct two drafting items before signature, and approved the county administrator’s execution of the agreement once those edits were made. Commissioners also directed staff to prepare a supplemental budget to provide the necessary appropriation and to return the budget amendment for formal adoption.
A motion to approve the contract and a separate motion to direct staff to prepare the supplemental budget were both adopted by the board.
Staff said the county will complete contract edits and then issue the signed agreement to Sober Creek Construction and schedule the work for the fairgrounds.
