Board approves contract change to make public health officer a contracted employee

County counsel and staff said the change is consistent with state and IRS guidance for employment classification in cases where the practitioner also provides other county services.
The board received confirmation that Dr. Emily Jack has agreed to the altered contractual relationship. A commissioner moved to approve the contract; the motion was seconded and carried. Staff will execute the contract as approved.
No changes to the scope of public-health duties were reported at the meeting; this action only changed the employment/contract classification and associated benefits and reporting.
