Board approves stadium video-board change orders and multiple facility projects totaling roughly $212,000

The Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 Board of Education approved several facilities and construction items May 20.

Bishop Stadium video board change orders: The board accepted donations and approved change orders to complete electrical and signage work for the new video board. Greg moved and Christine seconded a motion to accept a change order from Economy Electric in the amount of $14,975 and a change order from JSI (JS sign/awning) in the amount of $3,900; the board approved the motion 6-0.

Lincoln Education Center Points Avenue parking engineering: The board approved BG Consultants of Manhattan for engineering services for the Lincoln Education Center Points Avenue parking project in the amount of $34,500 (motion by Greg, second by Kurt; vote 6-0). The project would expand parking along Points Avenue by approximately 22 spaces.

Northview Elementary gymnasium fixture replacement: The board approved a proposal from SOPA Inc. of Wichita for fixture replacement in the Northview gymnasium for $30,402 (motion by Carla, second by Jamie; vote 6-0).

Seaco Park improvements: The board approved a construction agreement with BHS Construction of Manhattan for Seaco Park improvements in the amount of $133,464 (motion by Christine, second by Greg; vote 6-0). Board discussion indicated some work already underway and that city/district cost-sharing had been part of earlier planning.

All projects were approved by roll call vote 6-0 at the May 20 meeting; staff will return with implementation timelines and reporting on change-order impacts.
