The committee voted to forward Resolution 187-25 to the full council with a favorable recommendation. The resolution authorizes the County of Hawaii to grant a tank and underground pipeline easement at a portion of the Kawalani Fire Station and Hilo Municipal Golf Course to Gas Company LLC.
Diane Nakagawa, Hawaii County finance director, told the committee the measure is a renewal of a 65-year easement and that the cost is $7,496. The easement is intended to allow the grantee to maintain and operate gas facilities to serve the area. Nakagawa said a representative of the gas company was present to answer questions.
Council member Galimba moved approval of Resolution 187-25 and Council member Eustace seconded the motion. The clerk recorded eight ayes and one excused member; the resolution will be forwarded to the full council with a favorable recommendation.
No committee members raised questions about the substance of the easement after Nakagawa’s presentation.
