The Revere License Commission placed Lupita Revere LLC (Lupita restaurant, 111 Shirley Avenue) on a 90‑day probationary review after police reported patrons remained in the establishment past permitted service hours and an officer observed patrons with glasses after 2 a.m.
City counsel and police recounted a call where 911 received a report and an officer later observed activity outside Lupita and assisted security with clearing patrons. Counsel described the timeline: the officer was dispatched on a well‑being check at an adjacent address, observed commotion near Lupita, aided security and then stayed for an automobile accident and tow, clearing the area shortly after 2:40 a.m.
Security supervisor Fernando Tavares told the commission that staff moved patrons out and that some returning patrons who had stepped out for a cigarette were allowed back in because they had been part of a group already inside. He said the door was locked at 1:30 a.m. and that staff had been stricter about enforcement since the event.
Commissioners noted they have rolled back hours for Lupita in the past and that the restaurant must operate according to state law and the commission’s conditions. One commissioner said reviews of the area showed the licensee was actively working to comply; another said immediate enforcement remains an option if new complaints arrive.
The commission set a 90‑day review and required that Lupita request a police detail when management anticipates a busy Sunday night. Commissioners said they would send a written notice and would reconvene sooner if further complaints are received.
