Plan Commission approves final plans for Prairie Avenue two-family PUD

The Janesville Plan Commission on May 19 unanimously approved final development plans for a planned unit development (PUD) that would construct seven residential duplexes on parcels at 1211 and 1230 Prairie Avenue.
Senior planner Bridal Schwiego told the commission the project consists of seven duplex buildings and that the City Council previously approved necessary rezoning, a street vacation and a certified survey map. Staff recommended approval of the final plans subject to the conditions listed in the planning division memorandum dated May 19, 2025, including compliance with a site plan review letter dated May 15, 2025.
Commissioner Doug Markline moved to approve the final development plans, citing the commission’s earlier review of the preliminary plans; Commissioner Dangara seconded. The commission conducted a roll-call vote: Commissioners Squire, Bowerman, Dangara, Vosco, Williams and Mark Klein voted yes; Commissioner Madera was absent. The motion carried unanimously among members present.
Staff said no public hearing was required under the zoning ordinance for final PUD approval. The approval allows the applicant to proceed with the next steps required by city ordinance and the text agreement for the PUD.
