Entertainment Commission outlines PermitSF code changes; SFGovTV streaming to end for hearings
Summary
The San Francisco Entertainment Commission summarized proposed municipal police code updates tied to the mayor's PermitSF initiative and announced that SFGovTV streaming of its hearings will end to meet budget cuts; staff said the changes aim to speed permitting and reduce referrals.
The San Francisco Entertainment Commission heard a director's report about proposed municipal code changes tied to the mayor's PermitSF initiative and an internal cut that will stop SFGovTV live-streaming the commission's hearings beginning mid-July.
Director Weiland told commissioners the mayor's executive directive to simplify permitting produced a package of proposed changes that "simplify, expedite, and modernize permitting across San Francisco." She said staff-proposed revisions remove some referral requirements (for place-of-entertainment and extended-hours permits) and align noticing practices with current staff procedures. "These updates will reduce processing time and eliminate some unnecessary referrals and really are there to help our staff as well as the small businesses that are impacted," Weiland said.
