The updated fee structure is designed to increase program cost recovery toward a stated target (presented by staff) and to improve long‑term financial sustainability of the county’s senior day‑care services, which are funded primarily with general‑fund dollars supplemented by participant fees.
The board approved a three‑year implementation schedule and a CPI adjustment in the 2026‑27 fiscal year. During public comment a local senior and program participant urged caution about raising fees for people on fixed incomes; agency staff said they are pursuing grant opportunities and other strategies to mitigate the cost impact on participants and noted that some members may seek reimbursement via flexible spending arrangements or long‑term care policies where applicable.
