Show Low council recommends state approval for Buffalo Nickel Brewery to extend licensed premises

The Show Low City Council voted unanimously to recommend approval to the state liquor board for a permanent extension of premises for Buffalo Nickel Brewery and Grill, allowing the brewery's number 6 bar liquor license to be extended to include the nearby Buffalo Bills Tavern and Museum.

City staff (Ms. Hall) said the applicant, represented at the meeting by Martinson, applied for the extension to allow seamless movement of alcohol and customers between the two closely located, commonly owned venues. The application packet included a diagram of the proposed premises; the presenter said the police department conducted a background check and found nothing amiss and that the state Department of Liquor Licenses and Control will conduct its own investigation before deciding.

Martinson told the council the submitted drawing accurately represents the area to be served and said the two locations operate as a single destination for staff and inventory. He said the applicant intends to surrender Buffalo Bills' number 12 restaurant liquor license if the permanent extension is approved.

Vice Mayor moved the council recommendation and Councilman Hatch seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The council's action is a recommendation to the state; the Department of Liquor Licenses and Control will make the final determination. The council was advised that if it chose to recommend denial, state statute requires the motion state the reasons for denial, but the council chose to recommend approval.
