Comcast RISE opens $5,000 plus support grants to South Valley businesses; Sandy outreach underway

Comcast representatives gave the City Council an overview of the Comcast RISE program on May 20, 2025, encouraging Sandy small businesses to apply for grants that combine a $5,000 monetary award with technology, connectivity, marketing and training services.
Nate Martinez, Comcast’s local government affairs manager, said the revived program is available to up to 100 businesses in the South Valley, including Sandy, Draper, Herriman, Riverton, South Jordan, West Jordan, Bluffdale and White City. Martinez described the award as “a $5,000 monetary award also including a tremendous suite of services through our Comcast business side” and said grantees would receive equipment (laptop or tablet), free internet/voice/cybersecurity services for one year, a professionally produced 30‑second TV commercial and a year of entrepreneurship training.
Martinez told the council the grant window closes May 31 and said qualifying applicants must have been in business at least two years, have fewer than 100 employees and show at least $1 in revenue in the previous two years. He encouraged the council and the city’s economic development office to publicize the opportunity; council members thanked the Comcast representative and the city economic development staff for outreach done to date.
The presentation was informational; the city is not administering the program but staff said they will continue to help promote the application window to eligible local businesses.
