The commission reviewed three bids for new chain-link fencing at the county rodeo grounds and awarded the project to Watts Construction, the low bidder, for $25,347.32. All three bidders provided required insurance and workers' compensation documentation; staff said the bids were essentially comparable and the low bidder was recommended.
On advisory-board record keeping, the commission directed staff to send a memo or letter to advisory boards reminding them of their duties to maintain agendas, approved minutes and meeting recordings as required by the public meetings law. Commissioners asked that the letter be drafted by county staff (Kent) and offered to co-sign the communication to encourage compliance; staff clarified they need approved minutes rather than draft minutes.
The commission approved the 2025 notice of tax sale for two parcels in the Taylor Flat subdivision as a formality, and then approved a transfer of $139,246.75 from the county's Transient Room Tax (TRT) fund to the general fund to reimburse the county for purchase of lots across the street from the county complex (referred to in meeting materials as the Steinaker lots). Commissioners said the transfer would restore TRT cash flow after the property purchase and directed staff to continue budget work related to TRT balances.
All items were approved by voice vote with commissioners saying "aye." The commission recessed briefly at 12:37 p.m. while awaiting a participant to join for a subsequent infrastructure-agreement agenda item.
Details of actions taken and staff follow-up were recorded on the meeting agenda; staff was directed to return updated contracts, invoices or letters to the commission for formal record.
