Public Works committee: courthouse window/HVAC work on schedule; hazardous-waste sweep moved to October

The Manitowoc County Public Works Committee reported that courthouse window replacements are about 50% complete and the HVAC portion of the courthouse upgrade is roughly 75% complete, with final completion still projected around Sept. 1.
The committee approved pay requests for ongoing projects, including Hammond Construction (courthouse work) and Eland Electric (law enforcement center fire alarm system). Committee members also approved a site plan request from Hubbard Electric to locate a storage building near county property on Expo Drive with a 19-foot setback from the lot line.
Committee staff reported the annual hazardous-waste cleanup sweep was rescheduled from May to October because Highway 310 is serving as a detour during reconstruction of Memorial Drive between Manitowoc and Two Rivers; organizers said holding the event in May would have created dangerous traffic and crowd interactions.
The communications division updated members on 2025 capital projects for public-safety radio systems and noted work with the Village of Cleveland on coverage issues, including equipment replacement at the Cleveland tower site. The IT division reported a successful upgrade to the county’s law-enforcement software platform and continuing cybersecurity and service-ticket work.
The Public Works Committee will meet again on June 11.
