Roseanne Jones told the Kern County Board of Supervisors on May 20 that a proposed 8.5% salary increase for the administrative coordinator classification should be processed separately from ongoing SEIU negotiations and implemented without further delay.
Jones said the administrative coordinator increase was part of the memorandum of understanding dated Dec. 14, 2021, and was proposed again on July 19, 2024. "I do not agree with this. I believe the administrative coordinator classification increases should be considered separately on their own," Jones said. She said tying the raise to the broader agreement has cost her $6,488.79 since July 2024.
Jones asked the board to "consider the administrative coordinator class raises to be separated from the new agreement and move forward with the raise we have patiently been waiting for." Her remarks were made during the meeting's public-presentations period.
County representatives did not announce an immediate change to the negotiations during the meeting. The matter remains before the county and the union as part of collective-bargaining discussions.
