Millis promotes lieutenant, appoints paramedic and approves purchase of Polaris UTV for fire department

Chief Barrett asked the board to ratify the appointment of Brian Palimeno as a full‑time lieutenant following a promotion process; the board approved the appointment unanimously and Palimeno was sworn in by the town clerk. The chief also recommended hiring Ryan Deasy (hired earlier as a temporary firefighter) as a full‑time firefighter‑paramedic after Deasy completed paramedic training; the board ratified that appointment by unanimous vote and Deasy took the oath of office.
Separately, the board approved a purchase order for a Polaris Ranger Crew XP 1000 premium with QTEC fire and rescue skid through a government cooperative price. Fire Department materials in the packet showed the purchase price not to exceed $51,621 and the board moved and unanimously approved the contract to begin the build process; the vehicle will not be ready until after July 1 when funds become available, the chief said.
Board members praised the promotion and new hire and approved the purchase as a budgeted capital replacement item.
