The committee chair explained that under the city charter the audit and finance committee serves as the nominating committee for the city auditor and must recommend three candidates to the full council; the council will appoint the auditor from those recommendations.
Rebecca Kennedy of the Human Resources Department told the committee both Ralph Andersen and MGT were on the city’s master agreement and that if the committee directed staff to proceed, HR would enter into the contract with the selected vendor.
Council member Alter moved to select Ralph Andersen & Associates; the motion was seconded by the Mayor Pro Tem and approved without objection. Committee members and HR staff discussed timelines: Ralph Andersen proposed a roughly 16‑week timeline from selection to start date, while MGT proposed about a 14‑week timeline from posting. Staff said they will complete contracting and work with the nominating committee to draft the candidate profile and post the position for four weeks.
The committee’s action was a recommendation to the full council; the council will receive message board updates and the nominating committee will return with candidate evaluations once the posting and screening process are complete.
