Licensing Chief Carol Gagon described the routine criminal-background process for all license applicants: applicants are fingerprinted and prints are submitted to the FBI and California Department of Justice for background checks, and any arrest or conviction records are reviewed by CSLB’s criminal-background staff before a license can be issued.
