Three Churchill students honored as National Merit Scholarship finalists

At the May 19 Livonia Public Schools Board of Education meeting, the board recognized three Churchill High School seniors named finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
District staff presented certificates to Luke Condeville, Roni Korab and Lauren Martin and described each student’s academic record and extracurricular leadership. The presenter said the three scored in the top 1 percent of approximately 1.6 million students who take the qualifying PSAT each year.
The board highlighted the students’ grade‑point averages, participation in the district’s Math, Computers and Science (MACAT) program at Churchill, membership in multiple honor societies and leadership roles. The presenter noted scholarships the students have received and their college plans: Condeville plans to attend Michigan State University, and Korab and Martin plan to attend the University of Michigan.
Board members offered public congratulations. Board member Mrs. Burton said the interpersonal relationships the students have built “are the ones that are gonna carry you far, far, far in this world.” Multiple board members encouraged the students to keep the board updated on their future accomplishments.
No board action was required; the item was a formal recognition of student achievement.
