Linn County commissioners voted to hire Brandon Lewis as a firefighter assigned to Station 910 in Mound City and agreed to waive preemployment testing and the standard 90-day probation period.
Randy Hagewald, Rural Fire and Emergency Management, requested permission to hire Lewis and to forgo preemployment testing and probation because Lewis is already a full-time county employee and previously served on the department; staff said he had left in good standing. The county confirmed with HR that waiving the tests and probation was permissible in this circumstance.
A motion to hire Brandon Lewis with the waivers was made, seconded and approved by unanimous voice vote; commissioners said “Aye.” The board recorded no additional conditions.
